XSTEP 1.0.1
-----------
Welcome to XStep, the premier DWI creation program!
Finally, after almost a year of effort, version 1.0 is here!

MAJOR CHANGES SINCE RC4
-----------------------
- Nothing major. Just a few word updates, and minor bugfixes.

For all changes and bugfixes, check the changelog below.
This is no longer in beta, but just in case there are any bugs I've missed,
I still advise you to save regularly!

INTRODUCTION
------------
A few notes before we start:
- This is a DWI creator, not an editor. It doesn't have the ability to
import DWIs, although it can save and load in its own format (.xstep)
...however, there's a third-party tool to convert DWI to XStep available
  on the XStep home page.

- It doesn't work with Winamp3. Or, more appropriately, Winamp3 doesn't work
with it. Use Winamp 2.x instead!

- I haven't had time to write documentation for it yet. Expect it in a few
releases' time. It's fairly intuitive, though.

LEGAL DISCLAIMER
----------------
Warning: This program is released with absolutely no warranty. The creator
can not and will not be held responsible for any damage, physical, financial
or emotional caused by the use or misuse of this program.

HOW TO INSTALL
--------------
Unzip everything to a directory of your choice and run. The program does NOT
have an installer, and will not attempt to overwrite any system files. To
uninstall, simply delete the XStep directory.

For a complete uninstall, also delete the registry key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\XStep (be aware this
will delete all your settings should you choose to reinstall).

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
-------------------
- Windows 98 or later
- At least 64Mb of memory (128Mb recommended).
- Visual Basic 6 runtime files, available from
  download.microsoft.com/download/vb60pro/install/6/Win98Me/EN-US/VBRun60.exe
- Winamp 2.7 or later is required - but NOT Winamp 3!
- A copy of Dance with Intensity 2 is also recommended.
Stepmania will work, but not as well (you can't use Test Mode, for example.)

BUG REPORTS, SUGGESTIONS ETC.
-----------------------------
I'm hunting for a place to host a BugZilla forum. In the meantime, e-mail to
thomas@thomasscott.net - thank you.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AS OF THIS RELEASE
---------------------------------------------
Q: I'm getting an automation error: something's not found.
A: Try downloading the latest Visual Basic 6 Runtime files. These should
clear up most troubles like this.

Q: When I try to load a DWI file, I get a Type Mismatch.
A: That's because you can't yet load DWI files into the program.
The "Open..." command opens the program's own format, *.xstep. This is
because I plan to add Export to BMS/MSD/etc. at some time in the future,
and also because I'm too lazy to code it.

Q: It doesn't load. Something's not found.
A: Try installing the VB6 runtime files, available from
   download.microsoft.com/download/vb60pro/install/6/Win98Me/EN-US/VBRun60.exe

Q: It says it can't find Winamp!
A: Read above! Winamp3's developers didn't see a need to make their new
program work with all the old programs that worked with Winamp2.x ... and
no-one's made a full plugin for the new version that'll make them work
together. Until they do, use Winamp 2.x - run it in a separate directory
   if needs be.
